    Curso: 'Molecular Evolution, Phylogeny and Phylogenomics' en Valencia

    "Molecular Evolution, Phylogeny an Phylogenomics"

    This course aims at providing the necessary background to understand the
    basic concepts from comparative and evolutionary biology that are frequently
    used in molecular biology and bioinformatics analyses.
    The course consists in five full-day sessions with an adequate balance between
    theory and computer practice, oriented to solve frequent problems and
    hypothesis testing. The course includes a session of phylogenomic analysis
    and functional annotation including the most recent developments in this
    area. Among other tools, attendees will get familiar with Phylip, Phyml,
    PAML, TreePuzzle, MrBayes, Modeltest, programs and tools developed in our
    department such as Phylemon, FatiGO, FatiScan, and ETE. The course is mainly
    intended for professionals in the field of biology and chemistry who work on
    areas related to biological sequence analysis. The course fee is 300 euros
    and includes meals, a limited number of grants will be available.

Bueno si me sobrara el dinero encantado, pero ando con el bolsillo triste.

De todos modos le dejo un dato interesante que si es gratis. El programa TNT (Tree analysis using New Technology) para realizar análisis filogenéticos sobre la base de parsimonia, es ahora de uso libre. Puede encontrar algunas referencias en Nixon, 1999, Cladistics 15:407-406; Goloboff, 1999, Cladistics 15:407-428. Y si lo quiere descargar vaya a www.zmuc.dk/public/phylogeny/TNT

Curso más que recomendable. Hernán Dopazo sabe un huevo de filogenias y explica muy bien, el departamento de Bioinformatica del CIPF es uno de los más importantes de España, y además esta el gran aliciente de que va como invitado David Posada cocreador de ModelTest.

curiosidad: el jefe del departamento de bioinformática del CIPF es Joaquí Dopazo, pero él y Hernan no son familia. Los caminos de la ciencia son inescrutables.
